This is the classic two-handled round bowl form, perfect as a fruit, berry, salad, or centerpiece bowl. It carries the crisp early factory marks that serious collectors look for. ROGERS SMITH & CO. NEW HAVEN CONN. Size/capacity mark 2 1/2 (2½). Heavy quadruple silver plate on Britannia metal base (the best grade Rogers Smith offered). Two beautifully cast and applied loop handles with reeded borders. Generous shallow body with wide everted rim – ideal for elegant table service. Diameter approximately 10 inches across the rim. Height to top of handles about 3¾ inches. Weight 1.112 lbs (504 g) – perfect heft and balance. No monograms, no dents, no repairs, no plate loss. Outstanding original untouched condition for its 150+ years. Even soft tarnish that polishes easily if desired (currently left as-found for the collector who loves authentic patina). The listing is for a silver plate / quadruple plate decanter, underplate and two goblets. They are all manufactured by Rogers & Smith Silver Company from the late 1800′s though they pieces are marked differently they all have the same manufacture marks. The company was founded in Hartford CT in 1857 and continued to manufacture under the company name alone until they became part of the International Silver Co. The underplate was made to hold the decanter only but the goblets will rest on the rim. The listing is for a Victorian silver plate / quadruple plate decanter, under plate and 2 goblets manufactured by the Rogers & Smith Silver Company. The company manufactured silver plate hollow ware from Hartford CT between 1857 and 1898 when they joined the International Silver Company. All 4 pieces were manufactured by Rogers & Smith, though each on is marked differently though they carry the same marks. The set is exceptional considering its age. The silver plate is shiny and bright and the set definitely makes a statement when displayed. Condition: The set is in good condition showing only light wear from use. There are no visible repairs or monograms. The silver plate is shiny as shown in the pictures and the inside of each piece is clean and usable.
