1865 ROGERS SMITH & CO. MERIDEN VICTORIAN AESTHETIC ROCOCO TEA COFFEE SET. Organized in 1857 by William Rogers Sr. The firm was merged in 1861 with Rogers Brothers Mfg Co under the presidency of William Rogers. The tools and the dies were bought in 1862 by Meriden Britannia Co transferring to Meriden the production of the 1847 Rogers Bros line under the direction of William Rogers. In 1863 Meriden Britannia Co bought the hollowware division. In 1865 the plating shop was transferred from New Haven to Meriden and merged with Meriden Britannia Co in 1866. Early aesthetic, set in good to very good conditions showing overall bright mirrored plating, no dents or monogram, there is no breaks or repairs, strong firm hinges, and complete insulators some signs of wear and use as pictured, the inside of both pots and slop bowl shows tear and wear, white metal base, perfect as display. Coffee pot 9 1/4″ by 8 1/2″ shy 2.9 lbs weight, Teapot 7″ by 8 1/4″, 1.8 lbs weight, sugar bowl/no lid, creamer and slop bowl.

This antique tea set from Rogers Smith & Co. Is a beautiful addition to any collection. Its Victorian styling makes it a unique set. Rogers Smith & Co. Was located in Meriden Ct. Between 1877 and 1904, which means this set is between 119 and 146 years old. It has been well-preserved and is in excellent condition. The set includes a teapot, creamer, sugar bowl and waste bowl. All are elegantly designed, with interesting detail at the handles and finials to the teapot and sugar bowl which look Machine age.

Up For Your Consideration. Silver Plate Tri- Fold Mirror. Victorian / Aesthetic Movement. Made By the Meriden B. This trifold mirror is in excellent condition with some minor flaws noted in the photographs. 46 inches fully open. 20 inches in height. Side Mirrors are 11-½ inches in diameter. And the center mirror measures 11-¼ inches. There is plenty of information on the internet about the Meriden B. Company and this is a link. It is in pre-owned condition. It is approximately 14 long. There is the Goddess Psyche (Greek Goddess of the Soul) on one end holding a butterfly and there are butterflies on the side. The other end has what looks like an opening for a candle? Items by their very nature are not perfect because of their age. Please do not expect them to look like new. Lovely Antique Engraved Meriden Britannia Rogers SILVER PLATE Coffee TEA SET. This beautiful set is in very nice antique condition and features a 12″ coffee or tea pot, a 7″ cream pitcher, a 5″ open sugar bowl, and a 9″ covered waste container. The set has beautiful engravings in floral, scale, grape or berry, and leaf designs as well as acanthus leaf handles and beaded accents. Although all of the pieces are the same design, three of the pieces are signed Meriden Britannia (patterns 1861 and 1835) and one is signed Rogers, Smith & Co. (pattern 1835), likely because Meriden Britannia took over Rogers, Smith in 1862, during the height of the Civil War. I have given the set a basic cleaning and light polishing and while the set displays beautifully it does have some condition issues. The finish is uneven in several areas and I don’t know that additional polishing will help. There are a few light dents, the lid to the was is slightly bent, and there is an area at the foot of the tea pot that looks like it was slightly melted. The creamer pot had a gold wash on the inside that is pretty worn. All of the issues are pictured above and don’t effect the function of this beautiful set.
