This item is a stunning Victorian Egyptian Revival silver-plated teapot manufactured by Rogers, Smith & Co. Out of New Haven, Connecticut. This specific model dates roughly from the 1860s to the 1870s. It features exceptional Aesthetic Movement styling, showcasing highly sought-after details like a pharaoh/sphinx head medallion below the rim, heavily detailed geometric engraving panels, stylized clawed feet, and a prominent perched bird finial resting atop the lid. The words “ROGERS” and “NEW HAVEN” are clearly visible on the bottom of the teapot. Because it carries the New Haven geographic stamp, this teapot can be safely dated to between 1863 and 1877. The stamped number “1880″ on the bottom of the teapot is not a calendar year date. Instead, it is the factory catalog pattern number used to identify this specific design style of hollowware.
