Beautiful antique set of four Rogers, Lunt & Bowlen Co. Solid sterling silver butter spreaders in the elegant Treasure William & Mary pattern. Each piece is marked TREASURE, STERLING and PAT’D 1921. Rogers, Lunt & Bowlen was the predecessor to Lunt Silversmiths, making these desirable early American sterling flatware pieces. The William & Mary pattern features an elegant traditional design with detailed decorative borders and a classic period profile. Each spreader is additionally engraved with an ornate Gothic-style “F” monogram. 4 matching sterling silver butter spreaders. Length: approximately 5 3/4 each. Width: approximately 1 3/4 at widest point. Combined weight: approximately 110 grams. Individual weight: approximately 30 grams each, with minor variation. These are genuine solid sterling silver flat-handle spreaders, not silverplate. Very nice antique pre-owned condition. The pieces show surface scratches, light polishing marks and normal age-related wear consistent with previous use. No major damage observed. Decorative details remain well defined and the sterling presents beautifully. Light patina may remain in recessed areas, and the set may benefit from professional polishing depending on personal preference. This is a collection of vintage silverware from my family, who grew up in Washington D. And the Maryland area. There are four groups or lots of silverware which I have described below. I do not have the expertise or the time to research what might be an accurate value for everything. If I have undervalued their worth, I’m sure they will sell quickly. If you feel they are overvalued, feel free to make an offer. The first three lots come in yellow-stiched purple velvet pouches that read “Fine Arts Sterling Twelve South Twelfth Street Philadelphia 7, Pennsylvania”. The 4th lot is a single Jelly spoon that comes in a velvet pouch and original box. I did not attempt to clean or restore any of the Silverware. Here is a description of the four lots. Lot 1 – Five serving spoons (8.5″) labeled “WM Rogers & Sons AA. The spoons are tarnished, but otherwise in good shape with deep relief on the lettering and patterns. Lot 2 – Four pieces of silverware. 6.5 Gravy Ladle marked Oneida Commodity PAR Plate. 7 Tablespoon marked Fairfield with no other markings. 7 Fork marked William Rogers & Sons AA. 5.5 tea spoon marked William Rogers & Sons AA. Again, these are tarnished, but seem to be in good shape with little to no wear on the lettering and patterns. Six dinner knives 9 1/4 long, marked WM Rogers & Sons Warranted 12 DWT. Quality ranges from good to pitted. Jelly Spoon marked with a “D” monogram and the words “Sterling PAT”. Comes in a stitched velvet sleeve that reads RW Harris & Co Jewelers Washington D. I’m guessing the box it comes in is the original box. Slightly tarnished but in very good condition.
