Wm Rogers Mother of Pearl Handled 12 Pc Knife & Fork Set w/Ornate Ferrules! Fancy Wm Rogers Silverplate & Mother of Pearl Handled 12 Pc Knife & Fork Set in Excellent Overall Condition! Ornate Ferrules set off the lovely satin finish mother of pearl handles with fiery colors when the light catches them! Brilliant mirror finish silverplate, minimal scratches. No areas of plate loss or heel wear. Forks have nice straight tines and the knives blade have crisp edges. The MOP handles in wonderful condition with no chips, cracks or discoloration. The knives measure 8 3/4″ long, the forks are about 7 1/4″. The knife blades are marked on the blade “Wm Rogers (Eagle Star) Eagle Brand 12 Dwt Wallingford, Ct”. I do have another set listed by a related maker, Meriden Cutlery Co that has the same design bands but the fork tines are slightly different and different markings on the blades. This set comes with a footed punch bowl, 1883 FB Rogers, 11 1/2 inches tall by 17 inches in diameter. Features grape clusters and flowers. In good condition, normal wear to interior bottom from ladle, see photos. Also included is a tray with a floral design measuring 22 1/4 inches in diameter. This is the only piece that is not FB Rogers. It is in good condition with wear/scratches where the bowl sits; they are not visible with the bowl and glasses on top. There is sticker residue in one area that needs to be cleaned, see photos. The FB Rogers grapevine twisted ladle matches the punch bowl and measures 17 1/4 inches long. The ladle portion measures five and three-quarter inches wide. There is an area of wear to the plating on the handle portion, see photos. This is a stunning piece. Finally, there are 60 FB Rogers silver plate cups that measure 2 1/2 inches tall by 2 1/2 inches in diameter. Some are still in the original bags. The handles have a small flower at the top. These were only given a cursory polish to see what cups had damage so they will need to be polished again. Three have tiny dents about the size of a pinhead, and one has a larger 1/4 inch dent. All dents are on the bottom and all cups are still usable, see photos. Three of the cups have areas of wear that may not polish out as they may be oxidation, see photos. Several cups have interiors that need to be polished. This is a huge lot that is excellent for parties, weddings, etc. It looks stunning on a drink table with a black tablecloth. A set of 8 mid twentieth century 6 Sterling silver Lord Saybrook bread plates made ca 1959 by Rogers Silver Co. Pattern number is 0400. The catalyst for its widespread popularity was the Philadelphia Centennial Exposition of 1876. There, in numerous displays, many Americans, artists, and craftsmen as well as the general public, were exposed to art objects from a great variety of nations and periods. Most writers on the Aesthetic Movement agree that its roots lie in the reaction to Industrialization in mid-19.
