1940 WM ROGERS EAGLE STAR ANTIQUE ORNATE & GADROON AESTHETIC TILTING TEAPOT(eagle) WM. From 1878 to 1893 the mark was used in silverplate flatware by Simpson, Hall, Miller & Co under permission of William Rogers Jr. This mark continued to be used until 1976 in silverplated flatware and from 1938 to 1976 in hollowwareWilliam Rogers now known as Wm. Rogers was born in 1801 and died in 1873, and was an American silversmith who was a groundbreaking pioneer of the silverplate industry. Rogers’ designs were influenced by Louis XIV-style patterns of the 17th and 18th century in France, and he was best known for his Elberon pattern and “Presidential” cutlery series. Large scarce piece perfect statement of the quality manufacture during this period depicting an elongated body, domed lid, solid acanthus shaping the arms, handle, spout applied around the base and feet done with substantial mirrored plating excellent detail to the solid finals and cast arms original burner with wick in excellent unused conditions strong firm arms handle and hinge, Bakelite insulator rings the whole piece with splendid finish and outstanding attention to detail. The tray measures approximately 18 inches long by 12.5 inches wide. The lidded sugar measures 7 inches long by 6 inches tall. The creamer is 6 inches tall by 4 inches wide. All piece are marked Argosy and the patterns match. The inside of the creamer has a gold wash finish. Lovely high quality pieces. Excellent condition with light surface marks but no dents, damage, or repairs.

This is a very pretty antique Victorian sugar bowl/spooner from New Amsterdam Silver Co. The sugar bowl is quadruple silver plate. With this sugar spooner are twelve Wm Rogers silver plate birth record baby spoons. Obviously, these are not the original spoons with the sugar bowl. This is the way this set was displayed, and it is a charming combination so it is being offered together. The antique sugar spooner from New Amsterdam Silver Co would have been made in the late 1800′s, before 1904 when New Amsterdam Silver Co became Knickerbocker Silver Co. The sugar bowl measures 9″ in height to the top of the lid and is 8″ handle to handle. The Wm Rogers silver plate twelve birth record spoons are from the 1960′s and 1970′s. The spoons have a child’s name, date and time of birth. The spoons measure 4 in length. All pieces are in excellent vintage to antique condition.
