A fun, whimsical, detailed napkin ring of two dogs looking up at a parrot. The napkin ring is supported by base of acanthus leaves with two terrier dogs on each side looking up at a parrot on top of the ring. It still has some silver and has some shine. The mark on the base reads GUARANTEED BY ROGERS SMITH & CO. This writing is surrounded by a shield. The mark F/E is scratched on the base. 3 ½ (8.9 cm) tall x 3 ¼ (8.3 cm) wide x 1 ½ (3.8 cm) deep. Weighs 4.7 oz (135 g). There are no cracks or breaks. There is a small dent along the edge of the back of the ring. There are losses to the silver but it still shines up fairly well. Vintage Late 19th Cent WM Rogers Floral Design ICE WATER Pitcher Silver Plate. On offer is a wonderful example of an early WM Rogers Silver Plated Ice Water Pitcher. Similar to a tilting ice water pitcher developed by Meriden, this double insulated design was patented in 1868 and was widely used at the time and very popular in kitchens throughout the US. This pitcher jug is fully functional and holds approximately 2 liters of water. It is 12 1/4 inches tall from the base to the top of the flower and 11 1/2 inches wide from the spout to the back of the handle. The base measures 6 1/2 inches wide and 6 inches wide at the top base of the lid (excluding handle and spout). The pitcher has two bumps at the base (see photos) and has a nice aged patina with some wear in the plating. Check out all our other great listings here.
