We are pleased to offer an early and extremely scarce silverplated ice tongs in Persian, a classic pattern. It’s one of the first silverplate flatware patterns and as such, was made by a number of manufacturers; this piece came from 1847 Rogers Bros. The construction is practical – one end has a beautifully detailed claw foot to grab the ice, and the other end is a pierced spoon to drain any excess water. We’ve also heard it called a fried chicken server yes, seriously! And if you think about it, it would serve that purpose as well. This is a piece for the serious collector or for the entertainer who wants to create a conversation at your next cocktail party. Either way, it’s a fabulous and extremely hard to find piece. Condition: Excellent, like new, very little evidence of use – there is no silver wear or loss. The detail is magnificent and there are no monograms; and the pattern is crisp and well defined. It has been hand polished so there will be no surprises. Any dark spots in the photos are reflections only.
