Silver Plate Rogers

We are pleased to offer an early and extremely scarce silverplated ice tongs in Persian, a classic pattern. It’s one of the first silverplate flatware patterns and as such, was made by a number of manufacturers; this piece came from 1847 Rogers Bros. The construction is practical – one end has a beautifully detailed claw foot to grab the ice, and the other end is a pierced spoon to drain any excess water. We’ve also heard it called a fried chicken server yes, seriously! And if you think about it, it would serve that purpose as well. This is a piece for the serious collector or for the entertainer who wants to create a conversation at your next cocktail party. Either way, it’s a fabulous and extremely hard to find piece. Condition: Excellent, like new, very little evidence of use – there is no silver wear or loss. The detail is magnificent and there are no monograms; and the pattern is crisp and well defined. It has been hand polished so there will be no surprises. Any dark spots in the photos are reflections only. Beautiful and hard to find American 19th Century Antique Ice Tongs in the “Persian” pattern Rogers Brothers established in 1847. The tongs are large measuring 9-1/2 in length. These tongs were not made in 1847 but rather during the latter part of the Century. This pair of tongs have markings on one of the narrow arms. It has 1847 Rogers Bros.
