Antique Victorian Silver Plate Double Spoon Holder Spooner by Rogers Smith & Co

Rogers, Smith & Co. Antique silverplate double spoon holder. These aren’t seen very often! Featuring a tall handle with a garland of flowers connecting the two sides with floral engraved cups for holding spoons. The interiors of the cups appear to have a gold wash. The holder stands of four decorative feet. Age: 1862 to 1877; this is the time period that Rogers, Smith & Co. Had their plant in New Haven. They had previously been in Hartford, Connecticut and after these dates they moved again. Backstamp: Behind one foot: Rogers Smith & Co. ” and numbered behind another foot “1407. Measurements: 12-1/4″ tall; 7-1/4″ across; base is 4 wide. Condition: Very good to excellent condition; Very nice as far as antique silverplate holloware goes. Holder stands firmly without wobbling. Some discoloration on the inside of each spoon cup with some pitting of the metal in the very bottom. I have only very lightly polished this piece so if you like your silverplate completely free of oxidation, you could do a more thorough job. I can see that the plating is in great shiny condition and this lovely piece displays beautifully! The free listing tool. 1847 Rogers Bros CHARTER OAK RARE Pierced PEA Serving Spoon 8 3/4 1906! Ultra RARE CHARTER OAK Pierced PEA or ICE Serving Spoon in Excellent condition! B rilliant mirror finish and a lovely crisp acorn & oak leaf pattern! Minimal light surface scratches only. No areas of plate loss, heel wear or monogram. Freshly hand polished and ready for use! This scarce serving spoon is about 8 3/4″ long and the bowl measures 3 1/2″ long by 2 3/4 wide. Marked on the back “1847 Rogers A1 “. This is the 2nd pierced ice spoon in the Charter Oak that I had come across and about fell over when I found another from a different source! I tried to find another example of this rare piece but only found the Replacements had one at one time. This is a different serving spoon than the more commonly found Saratoga Chip/Ice Server Spoon that has the shovel end. This slotted spoon would be extremely handy for many different serving purposes. The Charter Oak pattern is so beautiful and ornate, adorned with lush oak leaves and acorns keeping in the Art Nouveau style of the times, around the turn of the century. This pattern was popular back when it was in production and still remains popular and highly collected today! This incredibly rare PEA Serving Spoon would make a spectacular to a Charter Oak flatware set! Make sure you check out my other vintage and antique silver, and more collectible treasures!
