Rogers, Smith & Co. Antique silverplate double spoon holder. These aren’t seen very often! Featuring a tall handle with a garland of flowers connecting the two sides with floral engraved cups for holding spoons. The interiors of the cups appear to have a gold wash. The holder stands of four decorative feet. Age: 1862 to 1877; this is the time period that Rogers, Smith & Co. Had their plant in New Haven. They had previously been in Hartford, Connecticut and after these dates they moved again. Backstamp: Behind one foot: Rogers Smith & Co. ” and numbered behind another foot “1407. Measurements: 12-1/4″ tall; 7-1/4″ across; base is 4 wide. Condition: Very good to excellent condition; Very nice as far as antique silverplate holloware goes. Holder stands firmly without wobbling. Some discoloration on the inside of each spoon cup with some pitting of the metal in the very bottom. I have only very lightly polished this piece so if you like your silverplate completely free of oxidation, you could do a more thorough job.
