Silver Plate Rogers

Antique 1880′s Victorian era silver-plated loving cup by Rogers & Brother. This piece is rare and features the highly sought-after “Assyrian Head” motif- a classical ornate Roman-style helmeted centurion profile adorning the sides of the cup & also at the handles, handle also has a leaf design on top of the head. The same warrior profile is also featured in the makers hallmark on the base, (hard to see). 1969 engraved in bottom middle is most likely a presentation date or an engraved date from an event or club. Shows wear from a over a century of age, includes visible surface scratches, scuffs and small marks. Heavy tarnish is present with patina. Has not been polished. There’s areas of “bleeding” (wear to the silver plate) where the base metal is visible, typical for pieces this vintage. No major dents observed. 4½” tall and 3½” wide at the base, with 2 handles and weighing about 11.5 oz. Please review all photos, thanks for looking.
