Silver Plated Rogers Bros 1847 / Oneida / Rare Flatware & Silverware Collection
May 18, 2023
1847 Rogers Bros, Oneida, N. Harding, and additional silverware and flatware collected from over the years. WATCH THE YOUTUBE VIDEO OF THE SET (Link Below). The set has a bunch of different Hallmark variations (Signature stamp behind the flatware letting you know the maker), all from the different makers, majority being Rogers Bros, and Oneida. There is a 29 on the bottom of the drawer if you take the drawer out, written in a interesting color ink of sorts. For all we know this could be the 29th set produced? There is some ware and tare on the back of the Box, as you can see in the photo showing the back of the unit. It looks like somewhere down the line someone replaced a few of the screws in the back, and used one a little too long, as it protrudes through the front fabric. The box has to be hard wood, because this thing is very heavy! INFO ON ROGERS BROS: Rogers is a recurrent name in American makers of coin, sterling and silverplate ware. There is a great confusion about the firms bearing this name. The number of companies using the Rogers name is countless. The men managing the various “Rogers” companies sometimes were linked by family relationships but often this was not the case. Lots of companies with this name were created, merged, separated in an endless succession of intertwined relationships. In 1862 Meriden Britannia Company bought the hollowware division, tools and dies of Rogers Brothers Mfg Co (incorporating Rogers, Smith & Co). The production of the’1847 Rogers Bros’ line continued under the direction of William Rogers and in 1865 the plating shop was transferred from New Haven to Meriden and merged with Meriden Britannia Co in 1866. Rogers 1847 became a trade mark of the new firm. I always over do the protective packaging materials, so if you recycle this will be a great bonus!
