This silver plate silverware set was made by Wm Rogers and is the Magnolia Inspiration pattern. It is a 52 piece set. It consists of 12 dinner knives (8.5″), 12 grille forks (7.5″), 12 spoons (6″), 12 large soup spoons (7″), 2 smaller rounded spoons, and 2 butter knives. Possibly even more valuable than the silverware is the Reed & Barton handcrafted wood storage chest. The chest has some small nicks and scratches and a very thin 3-4 hairline separation near one corner (see the close-up photo). It’s difficult to see unless you look closely – it’s in the left bottom corner on the photo. Overall this handcrafted chest is in very good vintage condition. These are all in very good condition, only needing a light polishing. Most are marked Rogers, but there are other markings as well as this is a mixed lot, but all have the classic Fiddle Thread pattern. Many have fancy monograms, but also quite a few are not engraved. There are 14 dinner forks, 1 fish fork, 11 soup spoons, 14 teaspoons, 1 sugar shell spoon, and 2 serving spoons. Please look closely at my photos for details. First Love pattern was introduced in 1937 and discontinued in 1973. “1847 Rogers Bros IS First Love “, cocktail forks and chipped beef fork are not marked “First Love”, k. Nives are marked “stainless” on blade. All pieces have been hand-polished and are in very good estate condition, showing normal signs of use and a high shine. Carving knife and fork show a bit more use with a few nicks and scratches and sharpening marks on blade. No major dents or plate loss, and no monogram. Pattern is crisp and well defined. Salad forks – 8 cocktail forks -8 oval. 3 serving spoons – 1 serving fork – 1 gravy ladle – 1 carving fork + knife – 1 chipped beef fork. 1 master butter knife – 1 sugar spoon – 1 sugar sifter – 1 tomato server – 1 pickle fork. Chest is in very good condition as well, like new, with just a small nick on top of lid. Inside is lined with anti-tarnish Hagerty cloth and clean, no stains or musty smell. It measures 15 3/4″ x 11¼” x 3½ and weighs a little over 10 lbs (with silverware). Do not wait until the last day! EXCELLENT – New or like new condition. Few if any surface marks. VERY GOOD – The best you can expect from any used item, light surface marks and a high luster. GOOD – signs of use or age, nothing too obvious. Shows surface marks, some luster. FAIR – Noticeable wear, flaws or damage as described, very little luster. After this time I will open an Unpaid Item Case. Each piece is wrapped individually in tissue paper.
