Silver Plate Rogers

In generally great shape, bright and shiny with light scratching and small signs of wear. Some pieces show some more scratching and wear but with no major silver loss, particularly the sugar spoon and the five salad forks with a “W” monogram, than the rest of the set. The “W” is in a little window on the handle intended to really showcase a monogram, a design feature introduced during this period. The knives and dinner forks of this set are of the grille/viande type, with longer handles and shorter tines and blades than typical knives and forks. Another innovation of this period, grille/viande sets were created to serve as separate utensils for meat courses. Today, choosing a grille/viande set versus a regular one is more about taste and aesthetics rather than use, although if one wants to keep a meat set, why not? The set consists of the following. (12) 7 1/2 Dinner Forks. (12) 8 3/8 Dinner Knives (the last two have a small design difference than the rest; a little notch in the back where the blade touches the handle). (15) 6 3/8 Salad Forks with no monogram. (5) 6 3/8″ Salad Forks with a “W monogram. (12) 6 3/4 Round Soup Spoons. (14) 6 1/4 Teaspoons. (3) 8 1/4 Oval Serving Spoons. (1) 7 3/8 Master Butter Knife. (1) 6 3/8 Sugar Spoon. I’ve added some extra serving pieces from other Art Deco patterns I thought might complement the set. (1) 9″ Cold Meat Fork “Anniversary by 1847 Rogers c. (1) 6″ Small Sauce Ladle “Coronet/Mystic by Oneida/Wm.
